Background and Aim: Canal preparation, as a basis for a successful endodontic treatment, is a big challenge in curved canals. The aim of this study was to evaluate canal transplantation and time of its preparation with stainless steel hand instrument (k – Type) and Ni-Ti rotary systems: Profile and Hero 642. Materials and Methods: In this interventional study, forty – two extracted curved (20-50) human mandibular molars were divided into three groups. Canal preparations were performed with stainless steel hand instruments and Ni-Ti rotary systems: profile and Hero 642. Pre and post instrumentation radiographic images were superimposed. Mercury was injected pre and post instrumentation for canal shape recognition. A computer – based software (Corel Draw 7) was used for the analysis of canal transportation. Time of canal preparation was also recorded. Data was subjected to ANOVA statistical test. Results: Stainless steel hand instrument (k – Type) shaped significantly greater canal transportation both mesiodistally and buccolingually than profile and Hero642 (P<0.05). Time of canal preparation with Ni-Ti rotary systems was significantly less than that of hand file (P<0.05). Conclusion: Canal transportation and time of canal preparation in Ni-Ti rotary systems were significantly less than stainless steel hand fileKey words: Canal transportation – Hand file – Stainless steel – Rotary file – (Ni-Ti) – Time of canal preparation.

CT evaluation of canal preparation using rotary and hand NI-TI instruments: An in vitro study

BACKGROUND Controlled, uniformly tapered radicular preparation is a great challenge in endodontics. Improper preparation can lead to procedural errors like transportation of foramen, uneven dentine thickness, stripping of root canal, formation of ledge, zip, and elbow in curved canals. These procedural errors and their sequel can adversely affect the prognosis of treatment. AIM/OBJECTIVES The...

a comparison of teachers and supervisors, with respect to teacher efficacy and reflection

supervisors play an undeniable role in training teachers, before starting their professional experience by preparing them, at the initial years of their teaching by checking their work within the proper framework, and later on during their teaching by assessing their progress. but surprisingly, exploring their attributes, professional demands, and qualifications has remained a neglected theme i...

cone-beam computed tomography comparison of canal transportation after preparation with biorace and mtwo rotary instruments and hand k-flexofiles

introduction: the aim of this in vitro study was to evaluate the transportation of mesiobuccal canals of mandibular first molars prepared with either biorace or mtwo rotary instruments or hand k-flexofile, by means of cone-beam computed tomography (cbct). methods and materials: forty-five mandibular molars were selected and randomly divided into three groups ( n =15). mesiobuccal roots of these...

Corrosion of Ni-Ti Rotary Instruments: A Review

The nickel-titanium (Ni-Ti) alloys used in endodontics contain 56% Ni and 44% Ti. The 2 unique features related to clinical dentistry (i.e., shape memory effect and superelasticity) are due to the transition from austenite to martensite in Ni-Ti alloy. When a superelastic Ni-Ti alloy undergoes a low tensile loading, normal elastic behavior occurs. In fact, at higher tensile loads, the elastic s...
